UAE - Mubasher: The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) launched the Abu Dhabi SME Hub, a digital knowledge platform aiming to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups in the UAE.
The new SME Hub provides a bilingual multi-format platform to connect SMEs under one knowledge platform and enable them to succeed in their investment projects, according to a press release on Wednesday.
Established in 2007, the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) is an independent entity of the Abu Dhabi Government seeking to develop and support the SME sector.
The Khalifa Fund has launched several initiatives to digitally empower entrepreneurs, including e-Empower.
The Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) and Khalifa Fund, Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, said: "The Abu Dhabi SME Hub provides support for all the stages of development of the SMEs, empowering them to work within an attractive entrepreneurial environment, and enabling them to grow, thrive and innovate both in the context of best business practices and new technologies and digital solutions."
Al Shorafa added: "Today there are more than 400,000 SMEs representing over 60% of the UAE non-oil economy. They provide employment opportunities for 86 percent of the workforce in the private sector."
