KSA trade balance surplus reaches SAR 81bn in Q1-17 – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said that the country's trade balance surplus value reached SAR 81.4 billion in the first quarter of 2017, against a deficit of SAR 2.9 billion in the year-ago period.

The Kingdom’s non-oil exports represented 9.4% from the gross domestic product (GDP) in Q1-17, compared to 9.32% in Q1-16, GASTAT added.

The value of Saudi merchandise exports surged 47.7% or SAR 66.8 billion to SAR 207 billion in Q1-17, compared to SAR 140.2 billion in the same period in the year before.

KSA’s merchandise imports retreated 12.3% or SAR 17.54 billion to reach SAR 125.56 billion in Q1-17, compared to SAR 143.1 billion in the corresponding quarter in the year earlier.
