Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has instructed Saudi banks not to deal with Qatari banks in Qatari riyals, according to banking sources on Tuesday.
Some commercial banks in Saudi Arabia and the UAE have suspended their dealings with Qatari banks, due to the diplomatic dispute in the region, the sources added.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, and Bahrain had cut their diplomatic relations with Qatar on Monday, stating that this decision came to protect their countries from terrorism and extremism.
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) denied issuing any instructions regarding a halt in dealing in Qatari riyals, CBE governor Tarek Amer told Mubasher on Monday.
