IsDB launches 1st regional headquarters in Egypt

Cairo - Mubasher: The Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) has launched its first regional headquarters in Egypt to add to the group's other branches across several countries around the world.

This announcement was made during the group's 2022 annual meetings, held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, according to a press release on Thursday.

The group aims to promote partnerships between governments and the private sector to enhance the developing countries' economies by finding solutions to the challenges facing development and achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Governor of Egypt at the IsDB Group, Hala El-Said, said: "Egypt takes pride in the fruitful cooperation and development partnership with the Bank Group, which has been spanning for nearly five decades, during which this strategic partnership resulted in a cooperation portfolio of more than $17 billion (as of the end of March 2022)."

Meanwhile, the President of the IsDB, Muhammad Al Jasser, commented: "The establishment of a regional headquarter for the Bank Group in Egypt is part of our keenness to reinforce  cooperation and coordination with development partners, as well as to establish strong partnerships with the private sector and civil society institutions to mobilise the necessary resources that  support development efforts in Egypt and the Arab countries."
