Insurance boosts QSE amid lower trades

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Sunday’s trading in the green zone backed by the insurance sector’s growth amid low trading.

The general index edged up 0.02% or 1.73 points to reach 7,827.50 points.

The insurance sector was the riser with 0.21% as Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance (QGRI) grew 1.03% and Al Khaleej Takaful Group (AKHI) added 0.09%.

Meanwhile, five sectors saw a drop led by the goods sector with 0.53% on the back of three stocks topped by Widam Food Company with 5.89%.

The real estate sector fell 0.40% due to the drop of Ezdan’s stock by 1.90%, but shrugged off United Development Company’s 5.60%, increase.

Similarly, the banking sector shed 0.19% as a result of a fall in four stocks topped by the National Leasing Holding Company (NLCS) with 3.75%.

The industrial sector decreased 0.18% after Gulf International Services (GISS) declined 2.10%.

Liquidity decreased to QAR 98.47 million on Sunday from QAR 166.04 million on Thursday, while traded volume plunged to 2.20 million shares against 6.06 million shares in the last session.

Qatar National Bank’s (QNB) stock, down 0.58%, topped the QSE in terms of traded volume with 299,200 stocks, and QAR 35.9 million in terms of liquidity.
