Cairo – Mubasher: Gold prices in Egypt hiked by more than EGP 70 per gram on Monday, as the US dollar rose against the Egyptian pound.
On Monday, the price of 21-karat gold in Egypt jumped to EGP 960 per gram, compared to EGP 889 on Friday, 18 March 2022.
Meanwhile, the per-gram price of 24- and 18-karat gold reached around EGP 1,097and EGP 823, respectively.
The US dollar exchange rate rose to EGP 18.15 for buying and EGP 18.25 for selling at the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr.
It is noteworthy to mention that on Monday, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to raise interest rates by 100 basis points.
