Riyadh – Mubasher: The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) plans to privatise the Saudi Arabia's airports in order to reach a financial and economic balance for them, according to Makkah newspaper citing statements by Sakhr Al-Mulhem, general manager of property and commercial development.
Al-Mulhem said that the authority tends to invest in its lands to boost the income of airports, depending on preliminary studies involving passenger traffic, the geographical location of the airport, land prices and investment opportunities in the region.
“There are many airports targeted for investments, representing significant investment opportunities for domestic and foreign private sector,” Al-Mulhem added on the side-line of Al-Ahsa Investment Forum.
The airports targeted in the first phase are King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Khalid International Airport and King Fahd International.
