Free zones dominate quarter of Egyptian exports

Cairo - Mubasher: Free zones account for 24% of Egypt’s total exports, according to the minister of investment and international cooperation, Sahar Nasr.

Nasr stressed the government’s efforts to pumping more investments especially in areas where economic growth is needed the most, such as the Sinai Peninsula and Upper Egypt.

The Egyptian government has approved the establishment of a free zone in the City of Nuweiba in South Sinai.

The free zone area will span across one million square meters, according to the governor of South Sinai, Khaled Fouda.

Nuweiba and Minya zones will raise the total number of free zones in Egypt, the minister indicated.
