Mubasher: Foreign visitors to Qatar decreased by 26% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2018, reaching 1.328 million, compared to 1.805 million, according to the Qatari Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics’ (MDPS) report on Sunday.
The decline in the number of comers was attributed to a 78% drop in visitors from the GCC to 153,130 from January to September this year, compared to 703,000 in the corresponding period last year, MDPS’ report added.
Tourists from Asian countries and Oceania acquired around 42% of visitors with 558,000, while Europe dominated 28% with 371,740 comers.
Arab nations, excluding the GCC made up 7% with 91,300 comers to Qatar, while North America and South America dominated 9% with 117,750.
