Riyadh – Mubasher: Foreign investors were net buyers of SAR 72.43 billion ($19.31 billion) worth of stocks on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) during 2020, down by SAR 18.75 billion ($4.99 billion) from SAR 91.18 billion ($24.31 billion) in 2019.
They registered lower purchases on the Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) by 34.75% or SAR 83.14 billion ($22.17 billion) last year when compared to 2019, according to data collected by Mubasher based on official figures.
Purchases of foreign investors, including qualified and resident investors reached SAR 156.08 billion ($41.62 billion) in 2020, compared with SAR 239.22 billion ($63.79 billion) a year earlier.
In contrast, sells of foreign investors tumbled by 7.2% yearly in 2020 to SAR 137.33 billion ($36.62 billion).
Moreover, the value of shares owned by foreign investors on Tadawul hiked by 5.2% on an annual basis last year to SAR 208.34 billion ($55.56 billion), representing 2.29% of issued shares and 12.79% of free shares.
Market cap value of Tadawul-listed shares rose by SAR 76.37 billion ($20.37 billion) by the end of 2020, standing at SAR 9.102 trillion ($2.427 trillion), compared to SAR 9.03 trillion ($2.408 trillion) a year earlier.
