Dubai - Mubasher: Facebook has opened its new regional headquarters in Dubai, marking five years in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The social network’s HQ spans across 20,000 square feet in Dubai Knowledge Village, featuring an open office concept, and a private terrace with views of the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Arabian Business has recently reported
Facebook has grown to 164 million monthly active users since launching a local presence in the region in 2012, according to a statement
Facebook’s user base in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region grew 264%, with more than 156 million users accessing Facebook via mobile devices every month.
Between July 2016 and July 2017 the growth rate registered 20%, Facebook MENA managing director Jonathan Labin told The National in a recent interview.
There is room for further growth in the region, based on the high demand for video and mobile services among MENA users. We are very excited about the region; we are investing in the region and we see huge growth potential, Labin added.
The office features commissioned pieces from Emirati artist Eman Al Hashemi, making her the first artist from the Arab world to join Facebook’s Global Artist in Residence program.
The new office was designed by INC Group and JLL MENA, it features an open plan, a mother’s room, an interfaith room, and a traditional majlis, according to Communicate.
Employees in the new headquarters will also enjoy access to a gaming section, and an Instagram anti-gravity room.
