Ever Given ship sails toward Great Bitter Lake after being refloated

Cairo – Mubasher: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has succeeded in refloating the Ever Given vessel that blocked the waterway for six days, the authority’s Chairman Osama Rabie revealed.

After moving away from its lodged position, the massive cargo ship is now sailing toward the Great Bitter Lake, according to state-run TV.

Earlier today, it was announced that after responding to pull-and-push manoeuvres, the vessel’s position was straightened by 80% and the stern was moved 102 metres from the canal bank.

The 224,000 tonne-vessel, which has a length of 400 metres and a width of 59 metres, ran aground in the Suez Canal last Tuesday after being hit by a sandstorm and high winds gusting at about 40 knots.
