Cairo – Mubasher: The owner of Ever Given vessel that blocked traffic in the Suez Canal for six days in March has offered to pay a compensation of $150 million for losses incurred due to the blockage, the Suez Canal Authority’s (SCA) Chairman, Osama Rabie, said, according to the Middle East News Agency (MENA).
The authority has rejected the compensation as it demanded $550 million, down from an earlier demand of $916 million, Rabie added in a TV interview late on Monday.
The compensation was reduced after assessing the value of the cargo on board.
The authority demanded the compensation be paid $200 million in cash and $350 million in a letter of guarantee.
