Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE operator Etisalat posted a 4.5% rise year-on-year in its profits in the first quarter of 2017, according to a bourse statement.
Profits reached AED 2.09 billion ($568.9 million) in Q1-17, compared to AED 2 billion ($544.4 million) in Q1-16.
The telecom operator’s profits declined 6.3% quarter-on-quarter compared to AED 2.23 billion achieved in Q4-16.
Revenues stood at AED 12.46 billion in Q1-17, compared to AED 12.85 billion in Q1-16
The active subscriber base in the UAE grew 4% year-on-year to 12.5 million subscribers in Q1-17.
The "strong" performance in Q1-17 reflects Etisalat’s ability to sustain momentum despite the vastly changing global industry trends, according to Group CEO Saleh Al Abdooli.
