Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates Telecommunications Group Company (Etisalat) has announced its plans to develop 6G mobile network, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The company is conducting research and developing international standards, the main building blocks for the 6G ecosystem.
This announcement was made by the Chief Technology Officer at Etisalat, Haitham Abdulazzak, during the Mobile World Congress, an annual trade show being held from 28 June to 1 July in Barcelona to focus on the mobile communications industry.
The 6G network can be realised by transforming use cases targeted by 5G into a full integrated autonomy, enabling the move from science fiction to reality, robotic humans operation, and sophisticated human to human.
Abdulazzak said: “The excellent achievements by Etisalat today in 5G coverage, cloud-native, slicing, Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) development, AI and automation platforms, as well as high fibre penetration, which stands at more than 99% of UAE populated area coverage, is a result of the long-term strategy paving the way towards 6G.”
