Etihad plans for third sustainable financing

UAE - Mubasher: Etihad Airways is planning for its third financing transaction related to sustainable investments, Reuters reported.

This announcement was made by the airline's group treasurer, Daniel Tromans, during a panel on sustainability at the ACT Middle East Treasury Summit.

"We are now working on what would be our third transaction in the space," Tromans said.

The airline aims to benefit from the debt sales' proceeds in replacing the old fleet with next-generation aircraft and focusing on sustainable aviation fuels.

In 2019, Etihad launched a sustainable development financing framework, through which the airline secured EUR 100 million ($117.14 million) to expand Etihad Eco-Residence, a sustainable apartment complex for cabin crew.

Etihad also raised $600 million via transition Sukuk in 2020 to help companies adopt more environmentally sustainable operations.
