Cairo – Mubasher: The Italian energy giant Eni announced a new oil discovery in Meleiha Concession in Egypt’s Western Desert.
Eni said the discovery was made at the Arcadia 9 well, drilled on the Arcadia South structure, situated 1.5 kilometres (km) south of the main Arcadia field already in production, according to a statement on Wednesday.
The new discovery will increase Eni’s total production in the Western Desert by 10,000 barrels of oil per day.
Eni owns 38% of the Meleiha concession through its subsidiary Ieoc, while Lukoil holds a 12% stake and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) owns a 50% interest.
