UAE - Mubasher: The total value of contracts awarded by Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) to construct new district cooling plants and expand district cooling networks reached AED 1.39 billion in 2020.
The other contracts granted by Empower include energy transmission stations, thermal energy storage (TES) systems, procurement of pre-insulated pipes and metres, and billing system expansion, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the district cooling services provider has increased the value of its total contracts by 23% in 2020, when compared to 2019.
The CEO of Empower, Ahmad bin Shafar, said that these contracts have positively affected the construction market and led to the recovery of the contracting sector.
The company expected that 2021 will record a jump in the number of clients and contracts, the completion of new cooling plants, and the expansion of the pipeline network.
In the first half (H1) of 2021, the company will complete the construction work of its new headquarters in the Al Jadaf area in Dubai and conclude several contracts.
Bin Shafar, said: "Empower holds 76% of the district cooling market in the Dubai city and we witnesses an increasing and rapid growth in demand for district cooling services according to the increase in the number and quality of the new buildings and projects."
