Emirates operates extra flights on Saudi route ahead of travel ban

UAE – Mubasher: Emirates Airline is operating extra flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, 4 July, ahead of the travel ban.

This step aims to support those who will be affected by the travel ban to return to Saudi Arabia and enable UAE nationals and residents currently in the Kingdom to return to their country, the airline announced on Sunday on its official Twitter account.

On Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that Saudi Arabia will suspend direct and indirect travel to and from the UAE, Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan amid concerns of the spread of a new mutated strain of coronavirus.

The suspension of flights will come into effect from 11 pm on Sunday, 4 July 2021, and will apply to passengers who have visited the countries within the last two weeks.

Saudi citizens returning before Sunday will be exempted.
