Emirates invests over AED 3.5bn to expand cargo capacity

UAE – Mubasher: Emirates has pumped AED 3.6 billion ($1 billion) worth of investments to expand its freighter capacity, according to Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Emirates SkyCargo meanwhile will be adding two new Boeing 777Fs into its fleet next year while converting four of the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft into freighters during the period from 2023 to 2024, the UAE airline firm said in an official announcement.

Under its agreement with Boeing, Emirates SkyCargo will receive the two aircraft in April and June 2022 respectively. The two new freighter aircraft are expected to boost Emirates SkyCargo’s customer offering to provide more agility and flexibility in its operations.

“The last two years have put the spotlight on the importance of supply chain connectivity and the availability of air cargo capacity to global communities and economies,” Al Maktoum noted.
