Dubai – Mubasher: Emaar Properties’ hospitality and leisure subsidiary, Emaar Hospitality, has partnered with UK’s Winnow Solutions to reduce food waste across its hotels.
The food waste reduction techniques will be applied in 12 of Emaar Hospitality’s hotels during 2018, according to a company statement.
The new project of Emaar’s unit is aimed at halving food waste, which has harmful effects on the environment and the economy, costing the UAE AED 15 billion ($4.08 billion) annually.
“Our partnership with MOCCAE underlines our social responsibility commitment to support the UAE’s green vision as well as to drive the nation’s goal to be at the forefront in cutting food waste,” Emaar Hospitality Group's CEO Olivier Harnisch commented.
The hospitality group will utilise Winnow’s smart scales to help chefs in its facilities track food waste quickly and accurately, the Dubai-based company revealed.
