Cairo – Mubasher: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has inaugurated on Monday Bahr El-Baqar plant, the world's largest wastewater treatment plant.
At a cost of EGP 20 billion, the plant has a capacity of 5.6 million cubic metres per day using tertiary treatment method, Spokesman of the Egyptian Presidency, Bassam Rady, said in a statement.
The plant will contribute to the reclamation of 400,000 feddans in North Sinai as part of the national project for Sinai development and the country's plan to make the best use of water resources, Rady noted.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the country aims to cultivate 670,000 feddans in Sinai, noting that Sinai currently has 200,00 feddans of cultivated land, according to state-run TV.
On a side note, Madbouly added that the president directed the government to complete the development of the Ain Sokhna Port within two years.
