El-Sisi delays enforcement of real estate registry law amendments for two years

Cairo – Mubasher: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi ordered the suspension of enforcement of the recent amendments to the real estate registry law for at least two years to allow time for public dialogue over the law, according to a statement on Monday.

Under the new amendments, citizens would be required to register their properties at the Real Estate Registration and Notarisation Authority (RERN) to make any future transactions recognised by the official authorities and be able to install utility services.

Over the two-year period, a reduced fixed fee will be imposed on properties that get registered at the RERN, based on the size and type of property.
