Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has teamed up with Altibbi digital health platform for the national Blood Plasma Project, according to a press release on Wednesday.
The government has an objective of establishing blood plasma donations for medicine production, which will be carried out by collecting blood plasma and manufacturing its derivatives.
Under this partnership, all plasma donors will get free, unlimited medical consultations from Altibbi Egypt for one full year.
Having plasma derivatives contributes to producing necessary medicines that can help to treat burns in addition to various pathological conditions like kidney, liver, as well as blood and chronic diseases.
The national project is part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative to make Egypt self-sufficient in plasma derivatives.
Altibbi will also publish promotional information on its platform, in a bid to encourage users to donate plasma at specific centres that will be announced by the health ministry.
Chief Growth Officer at Altibbi, Abdellatif Olama, said: “Egypt is one of Altibbi’s key markets and we’re delighted to continue our work there, following our 1130 hotline launch in December. This partnership is a major step for Altibbi in delivering quality healthcare services for all in the region.”
In May 2020, the health platform launched its national COVID-19 hotline in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education’s Supreme Council of Universities (SCU). This contributed to easing pressure on the national healthcare systems while curbing the transmission of the virus.
