Egyptian gov’t to invest EGP 26bn in Upper Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian government intends to invest an amount of EGP 25.6 billion in Upper Egypt during the fiscal year (FY) 2018/2019, 20% up compared to FY 2017/2018, Egypt’s minister of planning and administrative reform Hala Al-Saeed said.

Al-Saeed added that 51% of the government’s investments are allocated for Upper Egypt’s governorates with an amount of EGP 13 billion.

Aswan acquired the majority of investments with 32%, a total amount of EGP 4.24 billion, followed Sohag and Qena with 22% and 18%, respectively.

The government eyes several development programs in Upper Egypt represented in medical services, real estate projects, education, and transportation.
