Cairo – Mubasher: Total foreign-currency deposits at Egyptian banks rose by 9.4% year-on-year in September, recording EGP 728.03 billion ($40.4 billion) from EGP 665.2 billion ($36.9 billion).
On a monthly basis, deposits in foreign currencies fell slightly last month from around EGP 728.8 billion at the end of July, data by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) showed.
Foreign reserves of the North African nation rose to $40 billion at the end of September, versus $44.419 billion in August.
It is worth noting that Egypt's foreign reserves stood at around $36 billion ahead of the January 25 Revolution in 2011.
