Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has completed the expansion and replacement works of electricity networks in Giza at a cost of EGP 436 million by the end of last April.
The upgrade included the installation of 85 substations and 267 low-voltage distribution boxes, according to a statement on Wednesday.
In addition, the works also comprised the extension of 105-kilometre medium-voltage cables, 81-km low-voltage cables, 26-km medium-voltage overhead lines, and 31-km low-voltage overhead lines.
The number of electricity subscribers in the governorate of Giza is about 4.3 million.
Moreover, several overhead lines in population-intensive areas were replaced with underground cables at a cost of EGP 33 million by the end of April.
