Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt has launched a nationwide campaign to promote the cultivation of quinoa, as a high yield crop.
Quinoa can help many food industries and provide jobs for many Egyptian youth, the minister of agriculture and land reclamation said in a statement.
The plant was introduced to Egyptian farmers back in 2005, as it cultivation began in the city of Nuweiba in south Sinai.
A total area of 80 feddans across the country were planted with Quinoa in the 2017/2018 season, the ministry noted.
