Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Hala Zayed, explored the possibility of importing a new shipment of China’s Sinopharm vaccine against coronavirus (COVID-19) this month during a phone call with the Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, Liao Liqiang.
The minister asked for a new shipment of 500,000 doses of Sinopharm for delivery in April as part of a purchase agreement for 20 million doses of the vaccine, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Khaled Megahed, said in a statement on Tuesday.
The two sides also discussed preparations for signing an agreement between Egypt and Sinovac to manufacture the vaccine in Egypt at the Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA).
