Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt will sign the first corporate green bond issuance agreement on Wednesday, 30 June, according to the Financial Regulatory Authority's (FRA) Chairman, Mohamed Omran.
The value of the issuance amounts to $100 million, Omran added in a press conference on Tuesday, without disclosing the name of the company issuing the bonds.
In September 2020, Egypt’s Ministry of Finance sold the first sovereign green bonds in the MENA region for $750 million.
Green bonds are used to finance eco-friendly projects such as renewable energy, climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, pollution control, green buildings, and clean transportation projects.
