Egypt spends EGP 24bn on slum development since 2014

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt has spent EGP 24 billion to develop unsafe and unplanned areas since 2014, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly revealed.

The country will be free of unsafe areas in the near future, Madbouly said in his speech during the 32nd seminar of the Egyptian Armed Forces on Sunday.

If population growth rate is reduced, the North African nation would save EGP 670 billion, he added.

He further noted that Egypt is one of few countries that managed to achieve economic growth during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
