Egypt sees 31.5% annual rise in value of roads, bridges, tunnels

Cairo – Mubasher: The total value of roads, bridges, and tunnels built in Egypt reached EGP 15.7 billion in fiscal year 2017/2018, up by 31.5% year-on-year (YoY) from EGP 11.9 billion a year earlier, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

In addition, the total value of the operations implemented by public business sector companies increased by 19.3% to EGP 32.4 billion in FY17/18 from EGP 27.1 billion in the year before, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Tuesday.

The total value of power networks, plants, and substations surged by 82.6% YoY to EGP 445.6 million in FY17/18, compared to EGP 243.9 million.

Moreover, the total value of sewage plants and networks fell by 4.8% to EGP 4.2 billion in FY17/18 from EGP 4.4 billion, while the value of educational buildings rose by 5.9% to EGP 400.7 billion from EGP 378.4 billion.
