Egypt's trade exchange with AU rises 36% in 9M

Cairo - Mubasher: The trade exchange between Egypt and the African Union (AU) rose by 35.7% year-on-year (YoY) during the first nine months of 2021, according to the latest data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The total value of Egypt's exports to the African Union (AU) hit $3.9 billion in the January-September period of 2021, up 37.8% from $2.9 billion in the same period of 2020.

A total of five countries have accounted for 64% of Egypt's total exports, led by Libya with $711 million, Sudan with $588 million, and Morocco with $513 million.

Meanwhile, the country's imports from the AU amounted to $1.45 billion in the first nine months of 2021, up 30.2% YoY, with five countries representing 72% of the total value.

Sudan has led these countries with $258 million, followed by Zambia with $251 million and Morocco with $191 million.
