Egypt’s tourist arrivals decline 51.7% in May

Cairo – Mubasher: The number of arriving tourists to Egypt from all over the world reached 431,800 tourists during May 2016 compared to 894,600 tourists during May 2015, down 51.7%.

The most important countries that influenced the decline were Russia as it recorded a decrease of 61.3 %, followed by the UK by 12.9 %, Germany by 10.0 %, and Italy by 4.2 %, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

On other hand, the Middle East was the top region for sending tourists during May 2016 by 32.4%.

The number of arriving tourists from Arab countries reached 183,800 tourists during May 2016 compared to 153,700 tourists during the same month in 2015, an increase of 19.6% and 42.6% of total tourists.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists arriving to Egypt from all over the world reached 431,800 tourists during May 2016 compared to 894,600 tourists during May 2015, a decrease by 51.7 % , The most important countries that influenced the decline Russia a decrease by 61.3 %, followed by united kingdom by 12.9 %, Germany by 10.0 %, and Italy by 4.2 %.

The number of nights spent by departing tourists from Arab countries reached 1.2 million nights during May 2016 compared to 1.5 million nights in the same period in 2015, a decrease of 24.4 % and 47.1 % of the total tourist nights.

The average period of departing tourists stay reached 6.0 nights during May 2016 compared to 9.7 nights in May 2015.
