Egypt’s petroleum imports shrink 32% in 2020

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s petroleum imports plunged by 32.2% year-on-year (YoY) to $6.38 billion in 2020, compared to $9.4 billion in 2019, data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed.

Diesel imports fell the most to $858 million last year from $3.8 billion a year earlier, followed by 95-octane gasoline which declined to $609 million from $1.48 billion and butane which dropped to $840 million from $1.05 billion, the CAMPAS said in a statement on Saturday.

Petroleum imports from Algeria declined the most to $161 million in 2020 from $478 million in 2019, while petroleum imports from Saudi Arabia decreased to $2.274 billion from $3.415 billion.
