Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s exports of petroleum products hiked by 33.8% year-on-year (YoY) to $1.819 billion during the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, compared to $1.359 billion, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics on Monday.
Crude oil exports increased to $399 million in Q1-21, compared to $325 million in Q1-20, while exports of natural gas and heavy fuel oil (mazut) reached $564 million and $522 million, respectively, the CAPMAS said in a statement.
Malta topped Egypt’s export destinations for petroleum products with a value of $421 million, followed by India with $272 million, Greece with $226 million, and China with $126 million.
As for imports, the country imported petroleum products worth $1.879 billion in the January-March period, down by 11.4% YoY from $2.121 billion.
Crude oil imports declined to $643 million in Q1-21 from $1.320 billion in Q1-20.
Petroleum imports from Saudi Arabia slid to $720 million from $846 million, while those from Kuwait and Algeria reached $290 million and $12 million, respectively.
