Egypt’s manufacturing index rises 11.6% in August – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, increased by 11.6% month-on-month (MoM) to 116.60 (initial) in August from 104.98 (final) in July, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The index of manufacturing paper and its products surged by 37.20% MoM to 73.31 from 53.43 in July, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, the index of manufacturing pharmaceutical and chemical products amounted to 121.72 in August, up by 16.75% from 104.26 a month earlier. 

On the other hand, the index of manufacturing transport equipment declined by 4.36% MoM to 327.07, compared to 341.99 in July.
