Egypt’s manufacturing index rises 0.84% in November 2020 – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, advanced by 0.84% to 97.76 (initial) in November from 96.94 (final) in October, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The index of manufacturing pharmaceuticals and chemical products rose by 7% month-on-month (MoM) to 118.43 in November from 110.69 thanks to the increased demand for medicines, detergents, and sanitisers amid the second wave of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the CAMPAS said in a statement on Wednesday.

The index of mining quarrying industry surged by 18.65% to 191.40 in November, compared to 161.31 a month earlier.

On the other hand, the index of manufacturing beverages fell by 31.58% MoM to 102.77 from 150.19 in October, while the index of coke industry declined by 20.54% to 27.74 in November from 34.91 in the prior month.
