Egypt’s manufacturing index dwindles 2% in January – CAPMAS

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s index of manufacturing and extractive industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, declined by 2.15% to 112.67 (initial) in January 2022 from 115.15 (final) in December 2021.

The index of food products increased by 1.42% to 142.65 in January this year, compared to 140.65 in December 2021. The rise was attributed to more production amid preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed.

The index of ready-made garments industry stood at 103.09 in January, up 1.57% from 101.50 in the previous month.

Egypt’s index of paper manufacturing industry in January 2022 settled at 79.66, down 5.17% from 84 in December last year.

The index of manufacturing chemical products dropped by 14.23% to 105.61 in January from 123.13 in December 2021.
