Egypt’s inflation falls to 14.3% in February – CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s annual inflation rate dropped to 14.3% year-on-year in February 2018, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said in a statement on Thursday.

The consumer price index (CPI) edged up by 0.3% month-on-month to 267 points last month, the CAPMAS highlighted.

Inflation rate retreated on a monthly basis due to the decline in prices of grains and bread, meat and poultry, fish and seafood, vegetables, clothes, and furniture by 2.9%, 1%, 1.9%, 0.3%, 5.6%, and 1.7%, respectively.

Given that Egypt’s annual inflation rate fell to 17% year-on-year in January 2018.
