Egypt’s imports cross $80bn in 10M-22

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt’s imports during the first 10 months (10M) of 2022 reached $80.70 billion, a hike of 11.10% or $8.10 billion when compared to $72.60 billion in the prior-year period.

China topped the list of top 10 countries exporting to Egypt during the January-October 2022 period, with imports registering $12.40 billion, Akhbar El-Yom cited the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

Saudi Arabia and the US came next with $6.90 billion and $6.10 billion, respectively, followed by India and Germany with $3.70 billion and $3.40 billion, respectively.

Egypt’s petroleum products imports topped the list of top 10 imports during 10M-22 with $6.10 billion, followed by iron/steel raw materials with $4.60 billion.

Noteworthy to mention, Egypt’s exports registered $42.80 billion during 10M-22, compared to $34.70 billion in the year-ago period.
