Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s holdings of US Treasuries fell by 4.4% year-on-year in October, according to the US Treasury Department’s data.
The North African’s holdings of US debt instruments rose to $2.171 billion in October, compared with $2.272 billion a year ago.
On a monthly basis, however, Egypt held slightly more US Treasuries, compared $2.162 billion in September.
Moreover, Egypt raised its holdings of the US bonds by 3% or $69 million since the beginning of 2019, from $2.102 billion.
It is worth noting that Egypt’s net international reserves grew to $45.354 billion by the end of last November, compared with $45.246 billion in the preceding month, as per shown by the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) data.
