Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s food exports to the European Union (EU) countries increased by 24% year-on-year (YoY) to $152 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, compared to $116 million in the year-ago period, according to the Food Export Council.
Italy topped Egypt’s food export destinations among EU countries with a value of $37 million, followed by Germany with $28 million, the Netherlands with $21 million, and Spain with $16 million.
The UK came in the fifth position with a value of $12 million, followed by France with $10 million, Belgium with $8 million, Poland with $5 million, Greece with $3 million, and Romania with $2 million.
Exports of strawberry surged by 79% to $14 million, while exports of molasses hiked by 70% to $5 million.
