Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt’s food exports to China surged by 21% to $36 million during 2020 from $21 million a year earlier, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Wednesday, citing the Deputy Executive Director at the Egyptian Food Export Council (FEC), Tameem El-Dawy, as saying.
Over the last seven years, food exports to China have significantly improved, registering $4 million in 2014, $3 million in 2015, and $4 million in 2016, before jumping to $10 million in 2017 and $12 million in 2018, he noted.
Sugarcane bagasse and sugar beet pulp toped Egypt's exports to China with $20.6 million, followed by frozen strawberries with $11.3 billion in 2020, he added.
China is the world’s second largest commodity importer with a value of $2 trillion in 2019.
