Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's exports to France increased by 43.8% year-on-year (YoY) to $355.1 million in the first half (H1) of 2021, compared to $247 million, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
Meanwhile, the North African nation's imports from France declined by 3.3% to $887 million in the January-June period, compared to $917.3 million in the year-ago period, the CAPMAS said in a statement on Thursday.
Bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to $1.24 billion in H1-21, up by 6.7% from $1.16 billion in H1-20.
Electric machines and devices topped Egypt's exports to France with a value of $86.9 million, while pharmaceutical products were on top of Egypt's imports from France with a value of $161.7 million.
French investments in the most populous Arab nation increased by 18.3% to $330.3 million in fiscal year (FY) 2019/2020, compared to $279.1 million a year earlier.
Remittances of Egyptians working in France dropped by 6.3% YoY to $105.7 million in FY19/20 from $112.8 million, while remittances of French workers in Egypt grew by 18.3% YoY to $13.8 million from $11.6 million in FY18/19.
