Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's exports of medicines, cosmetics, and medical supplies jumped by 38.80% in 2022 to $968 million, compared to $697 million in 2021, Akhbar El-Yom cited the Egyptian Export Council for Medical industries’ (ECMI) Head, Maged George.
The sector’s exports saw exponential growth over the past 3 years, growing by 200% when compared to the pre-Covid era in 2019.
In 2023, the ECMI plans to increase the sector's exports by not less than 30%, George revealed.
He added that the African market is promising for the sector's products during 2023, explaining that there are some obstacles that should be dealt with.
In addition, he noted that six logistic centres will be opened in Kenya, Morocco, Mauritius, Nigeria, Zambia, and Algeria as part of a new strategy aimed at increasing Egyptian exports to the African market.
