Egypt's exports of engineering industries hit record high in 2022

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's exports of engineering industries hit a record high in 2022, rising by 10% to $3.83 billion, compared to $3.49 billion in 2021, state-run news agency MENA cited the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC).

Cables and car components’ exports increased by 25.60% and 13.80%, respectively, in January-December 2022 period.

Meanwhile, the exports of home appliances and electric and electronic industries went up by 0.80% and 18.40%, respectively, while exports of means of transportation rose by 10.10%.

The top countries that imported engineering materials from Egypt in 2022 include the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Czech, Spain, Italy, Malta, and Ireland from Europe.

In the meantime, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Oman represented the top importing countries in Asia, while Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Kenya, and Ghana topped the African states.

In 2023, the EEC plans to increase exports by not less than 20% by opening new exporting markets, particularly in Africa.
