Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's exports of copper soared by 24% year-on-year (YoY) to $370 million in the first 10 months (10M) of 2022, compared to $298 million.
Egypt exported copper to 40 countries during the period from January to October 2022, of which 7 were new compared to the year-ago period, state-run news agency MENA cited the monthly report of the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory, and Metallurgy Industries (ECBM).
Saudi Arabia led the countries importing Egyptian copper with a value of $203.88 million in 10M-22, dominating 55.10% of the total copper exports, compared to $70.42 million in 10M-21, followed by Algeria with exports of $43.95 million, a YoY surge of 60%.
Exports of copper to Lebanon jumped by 16% YoY in 10M-22 to stand at $38.61 million, whereas exports to China retreated by 40% on an annual basis to $16.46 million.
Meanwhile, Greece and Sudan imported less copper from Egypt by 60% to $11.78 million and by 46% to $8.53 million, respectively in 10M-22 when compared to the prior-year period.
