Egypt’s bourse heads south on Arab ,foreign investors selling pressure

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange closed lower on Monday amid remarkable selling activity by both Arab and foreign investors.

The benchmark index EGX30 moved below the level of 8,000 points for the second day in row to finish five-day gaining streak.

EGX30 lost 0.66% or 53 points to close at 7,930.14 points.

“The benchmark continues on profit taking after its record gains during last week ,” said Mohamed Saeed, CEO of IDT for consultation services.

The broader index EGX100 eased 0.25% to 780.87 points, while the small and mid-caps index EGX70 went up 0.16% to 362.14 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 added 0.68% to 1,365.3 points.

Arab and foreign investors ended as net sellers with EGP 7.8 million and EGP 39 million respectively, while locals came as net buyers with EGP 46.9 million.

The market capitalization gained around EGP 2.9 billion reaching EGP 411 billion down from EGP 413.9 billion in the previous session
