Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt's annual inflation rate jumped to 10% in February 2022, compared to 4.9% in the same month in 2021, according to the latest data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In January, the country's annual inflation rate recorded 8%.
The consumer price index (CPI) stood at 121.4 points last month, up 2% from January.
This increase is attributed to higher prices of vegetables by 19.6%, fruits by 5.5%, and meat and poultry by 6.1%.
On the other hand, the prices of cereals and bread, mineral and carbonated water, as well as dairy products and eggs climbed by 2.2%, 2.2%, and 2%, respectively.
Meanwhile, outpatient clinic services, hospital services, and transportation services registered an increase of 0.8%, 0.6%, and 0.6% in their prices, respectively.
